James (Edward) Donald was called home on Monday, June 29th at 10:35 p.m. He had been hospitalized with covid on Friday, June 11th at St. Francis. He fought hard but, he could not fight anymore so, the Lord called him home. He was preceded in death by his wife Carolyn Francis Medlin Donald. He was born October 14, 1935, to Melzer and Zelma Grant Donald at home in the crossroads community. As farmers they moved but, he
loved mills crossing and always considered that to be the most cherished childhood home. He was raized as a farmer's son and learned to take care of the land and the animals early. He had hard times growing up in the ’30s; there was plenty of love from grandma and good food. He enjoyed his childhood days and told many a happy tale about those times. He is survived by his sister Francis (Stinnette) Whitfield and his brothers: Joe and Perry (Pete) Donald.
He was preceded in death by sisters: Lois Donald Roach, Montes Donald Kelly, and brothers: Melzer (Junior), Boyce, Jimmy, Terry (Buddy) Donald.
Sisters and Brothers by Holy Matrimony: preceded in death:
Sue Donald, Linda Donald, Charles Stinnette, “Babe” Roach, and Dick Kelly.
Sisters and Brothers by Holy Matrimony: survived in death:
Betty Sue Donald, Louise Donald, Geneva Donald, and George Whitfield.
Childhood friends and Brothers by Choice: preceded in death; John Woolbright and survived in death; Bobby Grant. The young boys lived in farms apart and worked the fields together, running barefoot home from school to get their chores done. So, they might have time to play. Many years of growing and helping each other when one needed an extra hand grew tight the bonds into their adult lives.
He is survived in death by his children: Eddie and Lynn Donald, Tony and Joan Donald, and Caroline Donald. Grandchildren: Patton, Jason, Joshua, Christopher, and LeTishia. Great Grandchildren: Kenzlie and Kadan.
