James Kenneth Crow, known affectionately as Kenneth to his friends and family, passed away on April 6, 2025, at the age of 80. He was born on March 3, 1945 to Dr. Robert H. Crow and Juanita Crow. He was a life long resident of Cowpens, SC. Kenneth's life was marked by his unwavering kindness, his gentle spirit, and his remarkable sense of humor, which brought joy and laughter to all who knew him.
Kenneth went to Spartanburg Junior College and Anderson Junior College. His entrepreneurial spirit led him to become the owner of Shelby House of Music, where he combined his passion for music with his business acumen. Later, he took on the role of owner and manager at Stone's Drug Store in Cowpens, where he was not only a respected businessman but also a cherished member of the community.
Beyond his professional endeavors, Kenneth was an avid amateur radio enthusiast, known by his call sign W4KCK. His voice became familiar to many in the amateur radio community, and his presence on the airwaves will be deeply missed. Kenneth's commitment to his faith was evident through his lifelong membership at the First Baptist Church, where he dutifully served as an usher for many years, greeting congregants with a warm smile and a friendly handshake every Sunday.
Kenneth's family was the cornerstone of his life. He was married for 50 years to his loving wife Dianne Crow, who predeceased him in January of 2025, his brother, Robert H. Crow Jr., who predeceased him. He was a beloved brother-in-law to Anne Crow (Bob) and Julie West (Michael). His numerous nieces and nephews will fondly remember their Uncle Kenneth for his playful teasing, his willingness to listen, and the wisdom he imparted during their cherished moments together.
Kenneth's legacy is one of love, service, and the simple joys of life. He was a man who lived his values, treated everyone with respect, and never missed an opportunity to make others feel valued. His passing leaves a void in the hearts of those who loved him, but his memory will continue to inspire kindness and laughter in the lives he touched.
A life so beautifully lived deserves to be beautifully remembered. As we bid farewell to Kenneth, we celebrate the endearing impact he made on his community and the lasting imprint he leaves on the world.
