James Russell Blanton

James Russell Blanton, of Greenville SC passed away on Friday May 8th, 2020 at the age of 83 after a long illness. Born Nov. 5th 1936 in Shelby NC, he was the son of the late James Columbus Blanton and Leila Stamey Blanton. He was a member of Welcome Baptist Church. He retired as a wholesale car salesman. Previously he owned several businesses including being a custom home builder.
He is survived by a brother Jerry Blanton (Virginia) and three sons and three daughters, Terry Blanton (Carol), Steve Blanton (Wanda), Kenny Blanton, Renee Garrett (Bob), Melanie Richards (Robert) and Jacquie Klein (Tom). He had 14 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
Graveside service will be held at Graceland West at 3:00 PM on Wednesday May 27, 2020.
Special thank you to the staff at Heartland East nursing care facility for taking such good care of Mr. Blanton the last year or so of his life.
