Senior Sgt. James Edward Barnette, 71, passed peacefully away at home with his family present on Wednesday, September 30th, 2020 in Simpsonville, SC. He was born Friday, March 4th, 1949 in Greenville, SC to his parents, the late Claude and Mary Coggins Barnette.
He will be sadly missed by his beloved wife of 31 years Donna Marie Barnette, his children, Ryan Heath Barnette, Katrina Marie Millis, Carl Patrick Barnette and Leah Victoria Miniard (Robert); his grandchildren, Brianna, Jullian, Zoey, Connor, Gage, Olivia, Emma, Clay and Kinsley; his siblings, Rhonda, Claude Jr. aka “June Bug” and Jerry.
Jim was very proud of his service in the United States Army. He was a Vietnam Era Veteran. Upon receiving an Honorable Discharge he attended the South Carolina Police Academy. After which he spent 25+ years serving the community in Law Enforcment. He worked in armed security until retirement age. His main love in this life after Our Lord God was his family. He was a great fan of Elvis Presley and love to sing the Kings songs at karaoke. His “Green Thumb” provide beauty as well as vegetables for canning and for friends and family. He would cook great meals that Donna would envy. The 4TH of July, I Thanksgiving and Christmas brought out the best in him.
Along with his parents, he was predeceased by his daughter Monica Pressley, his sister Shelby and his brother Jesse.
The United States Army will render Military Honors. The Memorial Service will follow on Monday, October 5th, 2020 at 2pm at the Cremation Society of SC- Westville Funerals Chapel in Greenville, SC. The family will greet friends following the service.
