Jack Daniel Hill, 93 died October 12, 2023, at home. Jack was born on December 27, 1929, in Chilhowie, VA, to the late David Franklin and Eva Caroline (Wyatt) Hill. He was born in the middle of nine children. When Jack was 8 years old, his parents moved their family from Virginia to a farm near the Mason-Dixon Line. Jack graduated from Sparks High School in Sparks, Md in 1949. He was a Corporal in the Army during the Korean War. After he was discharged from the Army in 1954 at 27 years of age, Jack was invited by a family friend to evangelistic services at a neighborhood church and gave his life to Christ during those meetings. He was so eager to receive Christ as his Savior and have his sins forgiven, that on the second night, he was ready to run down the aisle as soon as the invitation was given. Throughout his life, he became a skilled carpenter, woodworker, and craftsman. He met his wife, Martha, through a neighbor early in 1956, and they were married in September of the same year. Jack moved his family from Pennsylvania to South Carolina in 1981, where he became a member of Mount Calvary Baptist Church in Greenville serving as a Deacon and choir member. He also used his construction skills to help the church through several expansion projects. After retiring, Jack became passionate about engaging with many Muslim immigrants and developed some deep friendships with them. He used these relationships to forward the gospel of Jesus Christ. He was predeceased by his wife, Martha Sullivan Hill; their infant triplet daughters Faith, Hope, and Charity; two sisters, Mary and Edith, who died in childhood; two adult sisters Elva Davis and Rebecca Davis; and three brothers, Herbert Hill, Robert Hill and Walter Hill. He is survived by his children: Daniel Hill, Duane Hill, and Jane Montero; his grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and his youngest brother Max Hill.
“As a way to honor their father, in lieu of flowers, the children wish to support missionaries who minister to the Muslim population Mr Hill loved so much.
