Irving E. Browne

August 15, 1959 — August 20, 2022

Irving E. Browne, 63, of St. Kitts, passed away on Saturday, August 20, 2022, in Greenville, SC.
Irving E. Browne was survived by his wife, Sylvia Browne; and his children, Samantha Sharbaan (Razi), Kiefanie Nibbs (Terrance), Kristal Fezza (Stephanie), Nakesha Smith, Kristiana Nibbs-Berry (Kendell), Ivy, Isiaih, Charnele Ware and Kevin Ware; and Goddaughter, Iesha Ashanna Smith. His grandchildren are Kamauriyah Nibbs-King, Josiah Sharbaan, J’Coya Walwyn, Armauni Nibbs-Sullivan, Koi Sands, Giovauni Nibbs-Sullivan, Zariah Sharbaan, J’Kai Smith, and Kiden Sands.
He was predeceased by his parents, Samuel & Roselind Carey Sharry; and his brother, Movin Browne. Irving was the fourth of nine children. His surviving siblings are brothers, Basil Pascall (Connecticut), Leston Carey (Tennessee), Vallen Browne (St. Thomas, USVI), Steve Browne (Connecticut), and Malvon Percival (Maryland); and sisters, Claire Browne (Connecticut) and Sheila Joseph (Tennessee).
Irving had several family members around the world too numerous to list including several nieces & nephews located in CT, New York, St. Thomas (USVI), and Georgia; and several aunts and uncles located in St. Kitts, St. Thomas USVI, New York, New Jersey, and the United Kingdom; many cousins and family members in St. Kitts – including Browne’s & Percival-Wilkinson (Lodge Project); Sharry and Fraites (Molyneux & Phillips Village) and New York, New Jersey, Florida, St. Thomas (USVI), Maryland, and the United Kingdom.
As a young man, Irving was athletic and participated in Track and Field for Cayon High School in St. Kitts. His event of choice was the 100 meters dash, and he also a very outstanding soccer player. Early on, Irving picked up a trade in construction work before migrating to Tortola in the late 1970’s and then St. Thomas in 1984.
Irving was affectionately called Baby and was given the name by his Great Aunt due to his health status as a child. As a young man, whenever he was feeling sick, he would always put on one of his grandmother’s dresses, her head scarf and wrapped himself up in a blanket while in bed stating that it made him feel better. His siblings remember him for being their fierce protector and his defense of them. Especially, when it came to his siblings Claire and Dave.
Another trade that Irving picked up was cooking and he always said that he was the best cook of all the brothers and sisters. That’s something he always reminded his siblings about, yet he would call his sister Claire and ask her how to make certain dishes. Sadly enough, in the last conversation he had with his brother Steve, the first thing he asked was. “Steve, do you still think you can cook better than me?”
Irving and Sylvia spent 31 years together raising five girls and numerous grandchildren. He was beloved by all his family and friends and will forever be missed in our hearts.
