Ilka B. Frazier, 71, Of Greenwood, SC passed away Friday October 4, 2019 after a brief illness at Greenville Memorial Hospital.
She was born in Köln Germany to Hildegard Stapelkamp Jöst and was the former wife of George L. Frazier.
In her younger years Ilka was an avid swimmer, ice skater and skier. With her most noted time as a swimmer being when she trained with the United Team of Germany for the Olympics. She later traveled to France for her formal education where she went on to earn a degree in Hospitality Management with a minor in the culinary arts. She then came to the United States with English being her fourth language to master after German, French and Spanish. She retired after many years of service from Magnolia Manor of Greenwood as a Dietary Manager.
Ilka was a long time member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Coronaca, Sc. She was known for her helping hand and her love for cooking.
Ilka was preceded in death by her mother, two brothers and a grandson D'Toni Thomas. She is survived by her daughters, Kim (Tony) Thomas, Stephanie Frazier both of Greenwood, Sc and one stepdaughter Cathy (Richard) Young of Honea Path, Sc; seven grandchildren, Taudre Thomas,Tareze Thomas, ShuMichael Aiken, Jetil Warren, Davaja Harris all of Greenwood SC and Sheidai Young and Richard Young both of Honea Path, SC; ten great-grandchildren and one on the way; and a host of family and friends to mourn her passing.
There will be no formal service at this time per the wishes of Mrs. Frazier. Family and friends may visit at the home of her daughter Stephanie.
