Horace L. Swafford, 86, of Greenville, SC, passed away on Wednesday, October 11, 2017 in Simpsonville, SC. Born on April 9, 1931 in Walhalla, SC to Styles E. And Minnie Lee (Stephens) Swafford, he graduated from Parker High School in 1949, he married Dorothy Jeanette Ford on August 24, 1950. She passed away on June 18, 1999. He worked as a Supervisor for Greenville Linen Supply (later National Service Industries) for 40 years and retired on April 15, 1993. He converted and joined the Woodside Church of God in 1947 and was a member for 67 years. He held several positions, Clerk, Choir Director, Y. P. E. Director, Church Council, Sunday School Teacher and Father of the Year. Horace is preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Doug and Ken Swafford. Horace is survived by his sons, David Swafford (Diane), Dennis Swafford (Denise); his daughter, Vickie Wright (Alfred); his brother, Harold Swafford (Dorcas); seven grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.
Services to remember and honor Horace’s life will be at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, October 14, 2017 at the Tremont Church of God, 2854 New Easley Highway, Greenville, South Carolina 29611. A gathering of family and friends will be from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Friday at the church. Reverend Richard Porterfield and Reverend Eddie Allen will officiate the services. Burial will follow services at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Greenville.
