Hollis Easley Strozier passed on January 6, 2024. She was preceded in death by her sister Katherine, her brother Curran, and her parents Curran and Hollis. Hollis had a mutually loving relationship with Chris Dux that has lasted 35 years. She is survived by her brother Rawson Easley of La Grande, Georgia, and her, James Strozier, who is relocating to Greenville. Hollis doted on her niece ( Michele) and 3 nephews ( Jason, Michael, Andrew), and 4 grandnieces ( Marion, Iris, Maddie, Emily). She also loved how Laura enriched Michele's life, as Mary did Jason's, Heather did Michael's, and Michael Bruckstein did Andrew's.
The Easley family has a strong tradition of serving the community, which Hollis eagerly embraced. She was the lead worker in the state program helping seniors gain eligibility for nursing home care and was consulted by other state workers outside the Upstate about her knowledge of this program.
Hollis was a long-time owner and gentle parent of cats. Memorials may be sent to the Humane Society at 305 Airport Road, Greenville, SC 29607, or to the charity of the donor's choice.
The family would like to thank the Pearl in Simpsonville, and Providence Hospice, for providing tender care for Hollis, who suffered from advanced Alzheimer's and the after-effects of a stroke.
The funeral service will be held at the Cremation Society at 6010 White Horse Road 29611 on Monday, January 22, 2024, at 1 pm. A celebration of Hollis's life will be held later at Café and Then Some, Sunday, January 28, 2024, from 3-5 pm.
