Herbert George Walton, affectionately known as Herb, passed away peacefully on November 3, 2023, in Anderson, South Carolina. Born on July 18, 1931, in Palmyra, New York, Herb lived a life filled with faith, kindness, and thoughtfulness, touching the lives of many with his gentle spirit.
Herb was the beloved son of the late Harvey L. Walton and Amelia F. Walton. He was one of ten children, and he is survived by his brother Marvin R. Walton of Palmyra, NY. He was predeceased by his siblings Thelma A. Walton, Violet F. Bradley, Loretta M. Downey, Elvira Walton, Harvey L. Walton, Jr., Jack F. Walton, and Thomas C. Walton. Herb was a cherished uncle to many nieces and nephews, who will remember him fondly.
Herb was a devoted husband to Marilyn Jean Morrison, whom he married on December 7, 1963, in Palmyra, NY. Their loving union was blessed with a daughter, Jennifer Louise Walton of Greenville, SC. Herb's love for his family was evident in his every action, and he was a pillar of strength and support for them.
Herb received his education at a Business School in Rochester, NY, where he honed his skills in accounting. He was a dedicated employee at Eastman Kodak for 25 years, where he was highly respected for his meticulous work and professional integrity. Prior to his career in accounting, Herb served his country with honor in the United States Air Force from 1950-1954. His service was a testament to his patriotism and commitment to the values he held dear.
A man of many interests, Herb had a deep love for music and was a regular member of his church choir. His melodious voice brought joy and blessings to many. Herb also had a passion for traveling. He had the opportunity to visit numerous places here in the United States and overseas, primarily in Europe during his military service. His adventurous spirit and curiosity about the world were infectious, inspiring those around him to explore and appreciate the beauty of our world.
Herb was a faith-filled man, whose actions reflected his deep belief in kindness and compassion. He was always ready to lend a helping hand and his thoughtful nature made him a cherished friend to many. His legacy of love, faith, and kindness will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew him.
Herbert George Walton's life was a testament to the power of faith, the importance of family, and the enduring value of kindness. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him, but his spirit will live on in the memories we shared and the lessons he taught us. His was a life well-lived, full of love, service, and joy. We celebrate his journey and take comfort in knowing that he is at peace.
