We have lost our dear, sweet Hank. Tragically, he took his own life Wednesday, after his struggle with depression. However, the vast majority of his life was filled with joy and laughter, and kindness. He had a passion for the outdoors, bicycles, snow skiing, water skiing, computers, tennis, theater, the lake, his pets, and his friends and family. He was a member of Mensa and was seeking answers to questions that confounded great minds. He always had a special place in his heart for his little sister Leona, who has lost her best friend. Most importantly, Hank had great empathy and the ability to apprehend the emotional state of others, and could never understand why some could be so cruel. His mission was to bring a smile to those who did not.
His smile, his touch, and his heart are imprinted on the souls of those who knew him well.
Hank is survived by his sister Leona Ballard, his parents Henry Ballard and Alison Ballard, grandparents Frank and Jane Powell, and many Aunts, Uncles, and cousins. He was predeceased by his grandparents Grady and Mary Ruth Ballard.
Visitation will be Saturday, March 25, at 1:00 pm, with celebration of life service at 3:00 pm, held at St. Matthew United Methodist Church, where he was a member, 701 Cleveland Street, Greenville, SC 29601.
