Harry Lewis “Lew” Keheley passed away peacefully on April 19, 2021. The son of Mason and Bonnie Keheley, Lew was born in Montgomery, Alabama on December 10, 1926. He graduated from Murphy High School in Mobile, Alabama in 1944, and shortly after enlisted in the US Navy where he served as an aviation radioman from 1944 until 1946. He later served in the US Navy Reserves.
Lew graduated from Georgia Tech in 1954 with a degree in mechanical engineering. He worked in the HVAC industry for forty-five years designing many of the cooling systems in textile plants throughout South Carolina.
Lewis Keheley was a committed Christian who had “tasted and seen that the Lord is good”. Whilst living in Prospect Heights, Illinois, he was a very active member of Prospect Heights Baptist Church where he was Chairman of the Building Committee in 1962. Upon relocating to Greenville, South Carolina in 1964, he became a member of Standing Springs Baptist Church in Simpsonville, South Carolina where he faithfully served as a deacon, Sunday school teacher, and a very valuable member of the building committee in 1970. Lew was passionate about building for Christ’s Kingdom.
Left behind to relish precious memories are Lew’s three sisters: Bettye Brantley, Donna McColl, and Kathy Stanley.
He leaves his wife, Margaret Cleveland, after seventy-two years of marriage. His three living daughters, Shelley Baluch, Paula Keheley, and Emily Keheley, twelve grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren will long remember their father and grandfather’s devotion to his family and to his wife for whom he dutifully and almost solely looked after for the past fourteen years.
