Harold Pleasant Hunt

July 3, 1949 — August 4, 2023

Harold Pleasant Hunt, Jr., 74, of Greenville, SC, passed away on August 4, 2023, in Greenville. He was a
wonderful husband, father, grandaddy, and friend to many. Harold was the patron of his family, always
ensuring that everyone he loved was taken care of. Although a man of few words, when he spoke, it was
with purpose and genuine thought. With that, Harold was a longtime member of Toastmasters and
knew how to make a distinguished statement. He expressed himself through his love of music, writing
songs, and playing the guitar. Harold had an encyclopedic knowledge of University of South Carolina
football and never missed a game for over a decade, whether it was at home or on the road. He also
carried the role of President of the Greenville County Gamecock Club for several years. He was known
for his sharp dressing and could always be seen with his matching argyle socks and a toothpick behind
his ear.
A man of faith, Harold served as the Treasurer for St. Peters Episcopal Church for many years. He found
solace and peace in the water, enjoyed playing golf, and cherished the moments when he could witness
a beautiful sunset. Therefore, acting upon his wishes, his ashes will be scattered at Lido Beach for his
eternal sunset.
Harold leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories. He is survived by his loving wife, Sherry
Connor Hunt; his son, Brian Hunt, and his fiancé, Annette; his daughter, Chirsty Brassell; his daughter,
Amanda Acosta, and her husband, Ben; his brothers, Ray (wife Louise) and David (wife Kelly), Denise,
sister-in-law; his grandchildren, David, Nicole, Hannah, Trey, Ryder, Rhett, and Myles; and his ten great-
grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father, Harold Pleasant Hunt, Sr., his mother, Ruby Hunt, and his
brother, Tommy Hunt.
Harold attended Parker High School and went on to pursue higher education at the University of South
Carolina. He had a successful career as a Certified Public Accountant at Ernest & Young and later served
as the Executive Vice President of Finance at BI-LO for almost 20 years. He became one of the initial
founders of the Meals on Wheels program in Greenville while with BI-LO.
Harold's presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him. He will forever be remembered for his
unwavering love, generosity, and commitment to his family and community. And in his words, he lived
by 3 rules: 1) Always Tell the Truth 2) Always Do Your Best (and have no regrets) 3) Treat others like you
want to be treated. Lastly, his family gives their greatest gratitude to the Boiling Brings Fire Department
and Jennifer (Na Na). Thank you for your patience, caring, and helping him have a better quality of
living. May he rest in peace.
Harold’s family will host his Visitation at 12:30pm and Service at 1:30pm on Saturday, August 12 th at St.
Peters Episcopal Church in Greenville, SC. The service will be livestreamed for those unable to attend at
