Hans Olov Strom

January 24, 1939 — August 30, 2023

Good evening. Tonight, we remember Hans-Olov Strom, known to many as Hans, who passed
away on August 30, 2023, in Greenville, South Carolina. Born on January 24, 1939, in
Stockholm, Sweden, Hans lived a life of ingenuity, intelligence, and joy, leaving a lasting legacy.
Hans was an accomplished individual in both his personal and professional life. He graduated
from the esteemed Laval Engineering School, planting the seeds for a successful career. His
brilliance and analytical mind led him to the role of Plant Manager, where he applied his skills
to ensure efficiency and productivity. Hans; intelligence was not just confined to his
professional life. He was a handy individual who could fix almost anything around the house, a
trait his family and friends admired and appreciated.

Despite his professional accomplishments, Hans never lost sight of the importance of family. He
leaves behind a loving wife, Gunnel, and two sons, John, married to Elizabeth, and Marcus. His
grandchildren, Caroline, Meredith, Stella, and Audrey will remember their grandfather as a
source of wisdom and love. Hans is also survived by his brother Jan-Erik, his sister Margareta,
and numerous relatives and friends who were fortunate to know him.

Hans had a passion for the outdoors, specifically fishing and boating. He often shared stories of
his adventures out on the water, each tale more captivating than the last. These experiences
brought Hans immense joy, and he loved nothing more than to share this joy with those around
him.
In remembering Hans, we are reminded of a quote by Albert Einstein, "The measure of
intelligence is the ability to change; Hans embodied this idea through his flexibility and
adaptability, both in his professional career and his personal life. He was a man who could solve
a complex engineering problem at work and then come home to repair a broken appliance. His
ability to apply his intelligence in such diverse ways was truly remarkable.

Hans was a man of great intellect, but he was also a man of great heart. His love for his family
was evident in everything he did, from supporting his sons in their endeavors to spending
quality time with his grandchildren. His love for his wife, Gunnel, was a testament to his
character, a love that was unwavering and pure.

In closing, we remember Hans-Olov Strom as a man who lived his life with purpose and passion.
He was a beacon of intelligence and practicality, a loving family man, and a true friend to many.
His passing leaves a void that will be hard to fill, but his legacy lives on in the lives of those he
touched.

May his memory be a reminder to us all to live our lives with passion, intelligence, and love, just
as Hans did. We extend our heartfelt condolences to his family and friends, and we share in
their sorrow during this difficult time. Hans-Olov Strom, a man of many talents and a heart full
of love, will be greatly missed, but his spirit will continue to inspire those who knew him. Good
night
