Gudrun (Judy) Robinson Clapp passed away September 20, 2021, after declining health, at Legacy at Southpointe Assisted Living in Greenville SC. Judy was born July 10, 1928, in East Prussia, Germany, and served as a translator for the US Army at the end of WWII, where she met her late husband Earl and then settled in Scotland Ct. She was employed as a secretary for the Scotland Elementary School for over 30 years and served the school briefly as interim principal. Judy also worked many years as a recording secretary for the town of Scotland. Judy was a kind and generous person, a beauty herself, with a flair for fashion and an artistic touch. She enjoyed and cared for many pets over the years and was known to take in and nurse back to health stray kitties and injured birds. Of special note were her love of music and her joy at being able to observe many Greenville Symphony concerts in which her immediate family members participated, after her move to Greenville, SC in 2005. She was a supporter of the Greenville County Youth Orchestra and took special pleasure in observing her son, Gary conducts many concerts over the years.
Judy was the daughter of the late Auguste and Freida Saxarra and was preceded in death by her first husband, Earl, and her son-in-law, Stephen Perrone. She is survived by her husband, Vaughn Clapp of Greenville, SC, son Gary (and Kathleen) Robinson of Greenville SC, daughters, Linda Perrone of Wilton, CT and Candace Robinson of Edwards, Co., granddaughters, Chloe (and Benjamin) Groth, of New Orleans, La and Caroline Robinson, of Atlanta Ga and two great-grandsons, John Henry and Ellis Groth.
A private memorial service and interment will take place in Scotland CT. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations are sent to Interim Health Care. Memorials may be sent c/o Interim Hospice 16 Hyland Rd Greenville SC 29615.
