Mr. Gregory Peck, 57, of Easley, SC, passed away at his residence on Tuesday, October 29, 2019. He was predeceased by his parents; the late Stanley and Elizabeth Sprague Peck.
Surviving to carry on his memory is devoted wife; April Melody Aaberg Peck, of the home, his brothers; Howard Peck (Colleen) and Lee Peck (Sue); his nieces; Ashley and Sarah, and their respective families.
In 1962, the Lord placed Greg into a dairy farming family, insuring that he would grow up in a quiet world surrounded by animals on a farm in Vermont and New York. From his earliest years, Greg was quiet too. His speaking abilities were delayed until he was almost five, and traditional learning methods were not his cup of tea. But he always enjoyed thinking deeply, and his retentive memory hung onto details relentlessly. In his early adulthood, the Lord began working in his life in subtle ways. As the family worked the farm together, Greg enjoyed the challenge of making farm profitable and sustainable for the family. He worked hard and long, and his minded working overtime, too. He lived morally, but unbelieving. He did not believe in God and even more, he didn't believe he was much of a sinner. When Greg was 31 years old, a missionary pastor began to minister to their family. Greg resented it. He observed his older brother, Howie, wife Colleen, respond to a Gospel appeal, and soon after, Greg's mother did as well. Greg sought to ward off the pastor's continued efforts to evangelize him, but the pastor never reacted unkindly to Greg. He continued to invite him to come see him. On one occasion, in an extended conversation with Greg, the pastor quoted many Bible passages. Greg came to see that he was just as lost as the worst sinner. For the next couple of months Greg's heart grew heavy with conviction. Greg spoke with the pastor and yielded to the work of Christ in his heart, and cried out to the Lord for Mercy.
In 1998, as farm life came to a close, Greg relocated to Greenville, SC and began attending and serving at Mount Calvary. Within a few short years, God brought April and Greg together and they were married in 2001.
One of Greg's most special passages; For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the Gift of God, not as a result of works, so that no one may boast. (Ephesians 2:8-9)
