Grayson William Spackman

May 20, 2013 — August 9, 2024

Inman, SC

Grayson William Spackman, a beacon of light and joy to all who knew him, passed away on August 9, 2024, in Spartanburg, South Carolina. Born May 20, 2013 in Cottonwood Heights, Utah, Grayson was a cherished son, brother, grandson, nephew, and friend, whose vibrant spirit and boundless curiosity brightened the lives of everyone he touched.

Grayson was the beloved son of Anna Marie Adamson Spackman and Brian Ned Spackman, the adored older brother of Alina Faith Spackman, and the cherished grandson of Kathleen B. (Kim) Holyoak, Karen Kathleen Jensen Adamson, and Jay Virgil (Katherine) Adamson. His aunts Lanette Spackman (Jo Ben) Taylor, Janae Kathleen Adamson (Darin) Martinueau, and Alesha Kayleen Adamson, along with his uncle Spencer Karl Adamson, held a special place in his heart. Grayson was predeceased by his infant brother Jeremiah Ned Spackman, his grandfather Gary Ned Spackman, and his cousin Jeffery Ned Ludlow, whose memories he held dear.

Grayson's academic prowess was evident from an early age. He attended Green Charter School of Spartanburg, where he excelled in his studies, achieving an 8th-grade reading and mathematics level by fifth grade. His exceptional abilities earned him a spot on the principal's honor roll in 2022 and 2023. In 2024, Grayson was homeschooled, allowing his natural talents to flourish even further. He was recognized as a "creative genius" in music, receiving an award for his innate ability to play by ear, compose music, and his perfect pitch.

His accolades extended beyond these to a 2018 soccer award, a Green Charter School writing award in 2021 and history award in 2022. These achievements were a testament to his intelligence and dedication.

Grayson's interests were as diverse as they were profound. A true Renaissance child, he was a comic book writer and illustrator, a Lego master builder, and a scriptorian. His voracious appetite for reading and learning encompassed a wide array of subjects, including science, bugs and dinosaurs. Grayson's photographic memory allowed him to absorb and recall information with ease, and he spoke up freely in any learning environment, to impart his wealth of knowledge.

Grayson loved mountain adventures with his family and friends. He enjoyed hiking, exploring, and getting buried in leaves. His love for the outdoors was strong, being among his favorite activities. He loved swimming and being in the water, and playing water games with his family and friends. He especially enjoyed going to the beach and playing in the ocean.

An avid fan of video games, Grayson found joy in the worlds of Minecraft, Megaman, and Sonic the Hedgehog.

Grayson's unique culinary tastes included a fondness for peanut butter and banana tortillas (PBBT), pizza with green peppers, and chocolate pudding and muffins and cakes.

Grayson's friendly demeanor, intelligence, and optimistic outlook made him a friend to everyone he met. His ability to connect with others, regardless of age or background, was remarkable. He would say hello and introduce himself to strangers of any age. He enjoyed playing on a playground with kids he didn't know.

Grayson loved to make people laugh. He was always trying out new jokes and seeing what got people to smile. This seemed to be one of his goals in life.

He was a caring brother, devoted son, and a loyal friend whose presence lit up a room.

As we remember Grayson, we celebrate the extraordinary impact he had on our lives in such a short time. His legacy is one of love, creativity, and an unquenchable thirst for knowledge. Grayson William Spackman will be deeply missed, but his spirit will continue to inspire all those who were fortunate enough to know him.
