Mr. Gert Josef Bambas

Gert Bambas of Greenville, SC, died peacefully May 20, 2018 at Greenville Memorial Hospital after a long battle with cancer. He was born to the late Emma Klein on October 14, 1944 in the Czech Republic. He later received his PhD in Mechanical Engineering while living in Germany. He moved to the United States in the 1960’s where he worked as an engineer for the following two decades while still finding time for his great love of automobiles and chess. He is survived by his ex-wife Eugenia Bambas of Columbia, SC, his adopted step-son L. Forrest Bambas (Karen), and two brothers Thomas Klein and Martin Klein of Germany. A Visitation and Funeral Service will be held July 13, 2018 at 1:00pm at the Cremation Society of South Carolina in Greenville, South Carolina.
