Mr. Gerald Edward Gollwitzer

January 1, 1944 — February 12, 2019

Gerald Edward Gollwitzer, age 75 of Maggie Valley, N.C. (formerly Menomonee Falls, WI) passed away on February 12, 2019 of heart failure at the Spartanburg Regional Hospital S.C.

Gerry a.k.a. “Dogface” was born on January 1, 1944 in Milwaukee, WI. He graduated from Rufus King High School and continued on to receive a degree at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.

Gerry was married to Mary Ann Gollwitzer (Ehn) for 52 years.
Gerry served our country in the Army and was a Vietnam Veteran. As many know Gerry was very talented and held careers in a variety of professions including wedding consultant, cleaning chemical salesman, musician and entrepreneur. Gerry was an excellent saxophone player and played with many
groups and in a vast array of musical genres.

Later in life he developed a deep interest in cooking, creating his own recipes and pairing them with wine. He spent many of his later years researching and enjoying wine and also wrote reviews for a wine company he was deeply involved in.

Gerry was known as a very funny, charismatic, intelligent man. He had many talents and one of them was leaving a great impression on all that he met. He loved a good pun, a good wine and good company. He was the man you could call to answer pretty much any question you had about math, sports,
cooking and wine.

Gerry is survived by his wife Mary Gollwitzer, his two sons David Gollwitzer (Sheila) and Daniel Gollwitzer (Danyell), five grandchildren Andrew, Hannah, Jeremy, River and Meadow and sister Sandy Malec (Ed).
