George Peter "Pete" Manos, a serial entrepreneur with a zest for life and boundless creativity, passed away on February 12, 2024, in Greer, South Carolina. He was born on April 24, 1955, in Charleston, South Carolina, to the late Peter George Manos, M.D. and Elizabeth Ann Manos.
Pete's career spanned various industries including Real Estate, Food & Beverage, and numerous startup ventures. He had a remarkable ability to spot opportunities and turn them into successful ventures. Pete loved putting business deals together and enjoyed building companies. His innovative spirit led him down diverse paths, always seeking new challenges.
Beyond his professional achievements, Pete will be remembered for his infectious smile and his sense of humor. His quick wit and sharp tongue kept people at ease and laughing in his presence. Pete truly had a sense of style; he will forever be remembered as a "sharp dressed man." Whether it was a perfectly tailored suit or a casual ensemble, Pete knew how to make an impression.
Education played a pivotal role in Pete's life. He graduated from Wade Hampton High School and later earned his college degree from the University of South Carolina. These formative years shaped his character and provided him with the tools to succeed in every aspect of life.
Pete had a big heart that matched his big smile. He believed in the power of relationships and leaving a lasting impact on those around him. Pete was always willing to lend a helping hand to those he cared about. His welcoming personality drew people towards him naturally.
In his free time, Pete loved to travel and explore new places. Recently, he returned from an unforgettable trip to Greece which further enriched his life experiences. Pete had an insatiable curiosity about the world which drove him to seek out new adventures wherever he went.
Pete leaves behind countless memories cherished by those who were fortunate enough to know him. He is survived by his loving wife, Linnie Manos, his son Peter G. Manos, and his daughter Ayers (Michael) Hughes. Pete was also blessed with two grandchildren, Milo, and Baron, who brought him immense joy. Pete had three brothers, Mark (Lisa) Manos, Michael (Mitzi) Manos, and Timothy (Larri) Manos and he had a strong sense of family and a special bond with each of them.
He will be deeply missed by his multiple nieces and nephews, including Cousins George Manos, Linda Leventis, Peter Leventis, and George Leventis. In addition to family, Pete held dear to his heart close friends Omar Naji and Scott Coffman, along with numerous others.
A visitation event to celebrate Pete's life will be held at Mackey Funerals and Cremations at Century Drive in Greenville on February 16, 2024. The visitation will begin at 5:00 PM and conclude at 9:00 PM. A graveside service will follow on February 17, 2024, at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Greenville at 2:00 PM. Afterward, a Celebration of Life will take place at Hall Of Fame Sports Grill in Greenville from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM.
Pete has left behind a legacy of laughter, courage, and unwavering love for those closest to him. Though he may be physically gone, his spirit will live on through the memories he created with his family and friends. Let us honor Pete's memory by celebrating the remarkable life he lived and the joy he brought into our lives.
May we always remember Pete as the vibrant soul who made every day brighter with his presence. He touched our lives in immeasurable ways, leaving an indelible mark on our hearts forever.
