George Delano Hackathorne, 65, of Blacksburg, South Carolina, passed away unexpectedly, Thursday, March 1, 2018 at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.
A celebration of life service will be held from 6:00pm – 9:00pm, Friday, March 9 at Restoration Park Church, 55 Restoration Park Drive, Medway, Ohio. The family would like to thank Spartanburg Regional Medical Center for the outstanding care given to George. In lieu of flowers the family would like donations to be made to Spartanburg Regional Medical Center Neuro ICU, 101 E Wood Street, Spartanburg, South Carolina 29303.
George was born February 9, 1953 in Xenia, Ohio to Daniel and Opal Hackathorne. He graduated from Tecumseh High School in 1971 and from there joined the Navy. He enjoyed meeting people and making new friends. George also enjoyed driving trucks and being outdoors living life to the fullest.
George is survived by his two sons, Tony (Shannon) Hackathorne and Joe (Anne) Hackathorne and two daughters Jackie (Steve) Mullenix and Jennifer (Ben) Smith; seven grandchildren, Maddie and Emily Hackathorne, Olivia Hackathorne, Hannah and Grace Mullenix, Kyle and Chris Smith; siblings Ronald Lykins, Kenneth (Jo) Lykins, Lois (Joseph) Soucy, Bonnie (Charles) Woehley, Timothy Hackathorne, Robert (Sonia) Hackathorne, Don Lee (Stephanie) Hackathorne; sister-in-law Cheryl Hackathorne and Aunt Karthyn Thomas. He was preceded in death by his parents, Daniel and Opal Hackathorne, and his brothers Larry and Danny Ray Hackathorne.
George’s family would also like to thank his friends in South Carolina for their kindness and support through this difficult time.
