Gene Russell Curtis

Gene Russell Curtis, 79 of Travelers Rest, SC. passed away on Friday, June 11th, 2021 at Augusta University Medical Center in Georgia. His battle with serious medical issues this past year showed his courage in facing life challenges with determination. Despite the pain, Gene came out a hero and stayed strong until the end.

Gene was born on April 18th, 1942 to Oscar and Matilda Curtis in Pearson, Georgia. He proudly served in the US Navy for 9 years. He then went on to have a very successful career as an Engineer at Flour Daniel. Gene was married to the late Nancy Curtis for 43 years, and is survived by his two sons, Jackson Curtis and Christopher Curtis; two daughters, Patricia Curtis and Christina Matthews; and ten grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 12 p.m. on Friday, June 18, 2021 at Westville Funeral Home located at 6010 White Horse Road, Greenville, SC 29611. The family will receive friends from 11 am until 12 p.m. before the service. Interment will follow at Graceland East Memorial Park Mausoleum located at 2206 Woodruff Road, Simpsonville, SC 29681 with Military Rites performed by the Navy.
