She said she always lived in almost every state. Gaylene's life was a testament to the power of love, family, and community, which she nurtured with every meal she cooked and every smile she shared.

Gaylene's journey began in the warmth of South Carolina, where she created a family and the love of her family. She was a beacon of light in the lives of her children, John Hilton and Johnlene Hilton, and her joy was multiplied with the arrival of her grandson, Hayden Hilton and Danien Lathan . Her family, Johnny Fowler Sr. and John Fowler Jr., Joann Brown, Llarra Miller, Chalcedony, Davohn-lee, Mathias ( her siblings) will fondly remember Gaylene's unwavering support and boundless affection.

Her love for food was only matched by her love for people, making her kitchen a hub of laughter and conversation. She always loved cooking and getting people together to hang out, to be together.

For 16 years, Gaylene dedicated herself to the Greenville County School System as a bus driver, where she was not just a driver but a guardian and friend to the many children she transported. Her commitment to her work was an extension of her commitment to her community, always ensuring that she provided a safe and caring environment for all.

Gaylene's influence extended beyond her professional life, as she was the heart of her family. She instilled in her children the values of kindness, generosity, and self-protection. Her home was the setting for countless family gatherings, where she took immense pleasure in planning and hosting, ensuring that every event was filled with love and delicious food.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, March 3, 2025 at 8 PM, with a visitation starting at 7 PM, at Cremation Society of South Carolina - Westville Funerals, 6010 White Horse Rd, Greenville, SC 29611.
