Gary Edwin Hutzel

Gary Edwin Hutzel, 66, succumbed to complications of COVID-19 on Sunday, November 8, 2020. He was born August 6, 1954, in Washington DC, to Abraham and Ethel Grace (Richardson) Hutzel. He grew up in Clinton, Maryland and graduated from Surrattsville Senior High School in 1973. He was a welder by trade. He served in the US Navy as a machinist mate and was stationed aboard the USS La Salle in the Persian Gulf during Operation Desert Storm.
He spent the last 2 years of his life at the Harden Family Farm, Pelzer, SC and was cared for by his cousins, Anthony and Bonnie (Guy) Harden, and his sister Linda (Hutzel) Driver.
Interment will be at the M.J. "Dolly" Cooper Veterans Cemetery in Anderson, SC. in a private service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Greenville County Meals on Wheels program at
