Gary L. Holcomb, known affectionately as Gary to his friends and family, passed away peacefully at his home on February 26, 2024, at the age of 78. Born on August 24, 1945, in Spartanburg, SC, Gary's life was marked by his unwavering dedication to his loved ones and his country.

Gary's journey began as the cherished son of Spartanburg, where he grew up to become a man of great integrity and strength. His commitment to service was evident early on, leading him to a distinguished career as a Navy Seal. His bravery and dedication to his nation were hallmarks of his character, earning him the respect and admiration of all who knew him.

After his honorable service, Gary's focus turned to his family, the cornerstone of his life. He was a devoted husband to his loving wife, Victoria Hawley, and a guiding light to his sons, Joshua S. Holcomb, Sammy Hewitt, and Jeff Hewitt. His wisdom and gentle nature were a source of comfort and inspiration to his step-daughter, Paula (James) Redding, and his beloved grandchildren, Rebecca Waldrop, Grace Hewitt, Sammy Hewitt, Paizlee Hewitt, Mayson Hewitt, Cole Ford, Hunter Waldrop, Carter Waldrop, and Kenlei Hewitt. Gary's legacy continued to flourish through his great-grandchildren, Josh Redding, Matt Redding, Sophia Redding, Landon Redding, and Abby Reeves, who will carry his lessons and love forward.

Gary's family circle extended to his loyal dog, Allie, who was a constant companion and source of joy. He was also a brother to Rune Holcomb Raymond and held the memory of his cousin, Rick Holcombe, close to his heart.
