Gary Bequette, age 77, passed away unexpectedly at home in Anderson, SC, on July 22, 2016.
Gary was born in Hastings, Nebraska to Marcella and Bernell Bequette. They moved to Los Alamos, New Mexico in 1951 where he was a longtime resident. Gary served the community in many ways. He was involved in Baseball, Softball, Police League, Leader of Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, the Los Alamos Posse Fair and Rodeo, Senior Appreciation Night, Emmaus, and Kairos Prison Ministry.
Gary was an employee of the Los Alamos Police Department for 22 years, Los Alamos Ski Hill and Los Alamos National Laboratory along with various other positions throughout the community. Gary and Cheryl retired to Anderson, South Carolina, where they enjoyed many years of fishing, bowling, golfing, playing cards with friends and taking trips in the motorhome.
Gary is survived by his wife of 22 years, Cheryl Bequette, his sister and her husband, his children and their spouses along with grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was proceeded in death by his parents, Marcella and Bernell Bequette, son John Bequette and son-in-laws Cody Wescott and James Dalton.
A memorial service for Gary will be held this Saturday, July 30th, at Boulevard Baptist Church in the Sanctuary, 700 Boulevard, Anderson, SC. Visitation will be from 1:00 PM – 1:45 PM with the service at 2:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers the family would like donations sent to the Anderson County Humane Society. Gary got Peanut there who was his constant companion
