Fredrick (Fritz) Henry Klein was born in Akron, Ohio on July 9, 1926. He was the last of 9 children born to Henry and Irene Klein. Fritz was eager to serve his country during WWII and enlisted in the Army as soon as he turned 18. He served in the 164th Infantry Division of the Americal Division from 1944 to 1946. He is survived by his wife, Penny of 69 years, 4 children, Bruce Klein (Linda) of Matthews, NC, Chuck Klein(Sarah) of Concord, NC, Dane Klein (Becky) of Rock Hill, SC , Valerie Gordon(Jimmy) of Douglasville, GA and 7 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and many others who loved him. His family and his military service were two of his greatest sources of pride.
Fritz and Penny raised their family in Akron and then purchased a second home on Lake Hartwell in 1980. They made Fair Play, SC their permanent home in 1990 after Fritz retired from B.F. Goodrich where he was employed for 42 years. They enjoyed the next 27 years on the lake where Fritz enjoyed gardening, fishing, woodworking and sharing this special place making memories with family and friends.
Fritz went home to his Lord and Savior on January 30, 2018. All who knew him would say that he laughed, loved and served well.
A Memorial Service followed by a fellowship luncheon will be held on Saturday February 17th at 11am at Eternal Shepherd Lutheran Church, 220 Carson Road, Seneca, SC.
