Fred “Gene” Eugene Pickens Jr.

April 16, 1954 — December 1, 2021

Mr. Fred “Gene” Eugene Pickens Jr., was born on April 16th, 1954 to his parents, the late Fred Sr. and Inza Geraldine Holland, in Greenville, SC. He passed away on December 1st, 2021, comfortably and peacefully with his daughter Alexis and son-in-law Jacob at his side.

Gene was still mourning the loss of his beloved wife, Monique Denise Pickens, who passed away June 19th of this year.

His memory and legacy will be carried in the hearts and minds of his family: daughters, Alexis Pickens Fetner (Jacob Richard) and Chloe Nimmons (Ronald); his granddaughter Hazel Victoria Fetner; his siblings: Melissa Pickens McWhite (Lewis) of Greenville, SC, Christina Sands of North Carolina, Brian Pickens of Fountain Inn, SC; his brother-in-law Yves Bangle and his wife Dianne. He was also predeceased by his sisters Katherine Pickens and Amy Pickens.

His hobbies included spending time with his granddaughter Hazel, spending time with his family and friends, listening to music, playing guitar, working on computers, cooking and grilling, and caring for his dog Bella.

His accomplishments include degree in Electrical Engineering, working at Norfolk Southern Railway for25 years and then BMW for10 years. He owned his own electronics business, Hy-Tech Electronics, for many years. Fred and Monique Pickens were married for 44 years and had two beautiful daughters. He will be immensely missed by his family and friends
