Franklin Rufus Guthrie, Sr., known affectionately as Frank, passed away peacefully on May 13, 2024, at McCall Hospice House. Born on May 5, 1952, in Greenville, SC, Frank's life was a testament to the strength and warmth of his spirit, which touched the hearts of all who knew him.

Frank is survived by his loving wife, Kathryn Pearl Guthrie, and a legacy of love and faith in his children and grandchildren. His son, Frank Guthrie, Jr. (Deeanne), and daughter, Kathryn Lynn Guthrie (Jesus Gaspar), carry forward his values and love for family. Frank was a cherished brother to John Guthrie, Jan Elrod, Tammy Hembree, Serecia Laws, and Lacinda Snow. He was predeceased by his brothers, Richard and Mike Guthrie, and sisters, Jane Poole and Tina Underwood. His adoration for his grandchildren was boundless, and he leaves behind Micayla Jane Odom (Matt), Haley Deeanne Day (Stephen), Hannah Shae Guthrie, and Katie Mohamad (Sharif), along with five great-grandchildren, who will miss their grandfather's guiding presence and unconditional love.

Frank's life was one of hard work and dedication. He spent many years as a logger, a profession that demanded resilience and strength. His work ethic was unparalleled, and he was respected by all who worked alongside him. Frank's involvement in his community reflected his commitment to service and his desire to contribute positively to the world around him.

Beyond his professional life, Frank was a man of many interests and talents. His grandchildren were the light of his life, and he cherished every moment spent with them. A skilled guitar player, Frank found joy and solace in music, which was an integral part of his life. His ability to fix anything that was broken was a running family joke, but it was also a symbol of his resourcefulness and ingenuity.

Frank's deep faith was the cornerstone of his existence. A devout member of the Pentecostal church, he was a born-again Christian who lived his faith every day. His beliefs guided him through life's challenges and triumphs, and he was a source of wisdom and comfort to those around him.

Described as loving, faith-filled, and wise, Frank embodied these qualities in every aspect of his life. He was a beacon of love and faith, always ready to offer a kind word, a piece of advice, or a helping hand. His wisdom was sought after by many, and he was known for his ability to provide perspective and understanding in any situation.

Frank's passing leaves a void in the hearts of those who loved him, but his spirit will continue to inspire and guide us. His life was a beautiful tapestry of love, faith, and dedication to his family and community. We will cherish our memories of him and hold them close as we navigate the world without his physical presence.

As we say goodbye to Franklin Rufus Guthrie, Sr., we celebrate the remarkable man he was and the profound impact he had on our lives. His legacy of love, faith, and wisdom will live on through his family and all who were fortunate enough to know him.
