Frances Tuttle Weaver passed peacefully and joined the Heavenly Host on September 10, 2024. She was born to the late Frank W. and Vada L. (Nelson) Tuttle on August 27, 1932 in Washington, PA. Her family first moved to Gainesville, Florida in 1935. Her father was a professor of Economics at the University of Florida while her mother a Mathematics teacher at Gainesville High School. Frances graduated with a degree in music, specializing in the Oboe, from Florida State University in 1954. She then taught music in Lexington, Kentucky for 2 years before going to work for Delta Airlines. She also taught at the USAFE in England before returning to Florida State University to obtain a Master’s Degree in Library Science. It was there that she met William B. Weaver, Jr. who was also getting a Master’s Degree in Library Science. The two were married at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church in Gainesville, Florida April 18, 1964 and lived in Tallahassee, Florida until their graduation in August 1964. They moved to Gainesville, Florida after graduation. During their time in Gainesville, they attended both St. Michael’s Episcopal Church and then Holy Trinity Episcopal Church. Their son, Paul, was born June 1970. During this time, Frances thoroughly enjoyed teaching beginning piano students out of a studio in her home for nearly 30 years. Frances also was an active member at Holy Trinity, many years participating in ECW, teaching Sunday School, as well as hosting Cambodian refugees. Bill and Frances moved to Greenville, South Carolina shortly after the birth of their first granddaughter, Sarah. In Greenville, they were members of the St. Peter’s Episcopal Church parish where she sang in the choir. Frances was a member of the Mauldin Garden Club. She also joined the Greenville County Senior Band where she played the flute. Later, after moving to Rolling Green Village, she joined, then led the RGV choir.
Frances is survived by her son Paul Weaver, his wife Carolyn, their 3 daughters Sarah, Rachel, and Abigail Weaver and her brother Charles Tuttle, his wife Virginia, their children Eileen Hovey (Lonnie), Frank Tuttle, Margaret Robinson (Rick), Luke Tuttle (Dawn), and grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at St Peter’s Episcopal Church, 910 Hudson Rd, Greenville, SC on Saturday September 21, 2024 at 11am.
