Frances Elizabeth Galloway Ware of Taylors, beloved wife of Jerry Leonard Ware, was born August 10, 1939 in the Brandon Mill Community. Frances was the daughter of the late Ray Shufford & Annie Mae Stephens Galloway.
Following her parents’ move to the Armstrong Community, Frances resided there until her marriage to Jerry in 1962.
Surviving in addition to her husband are a son and his family, Richard ‘Ric’ Jerry Ware and his wife Karen Beason Ware of Travelers Rest; three grandchildren, Nathaniel B. Hollifield & Abigail Vizcarra-Perez of Tacoma, WA, Laura Caroline Ware of Greenville, and Bryson Monroe Ware of Travelers Rest; and one great granddaughter, Carolina Vizcarra-Hollifield; sisters and brothers, Mildred G. Bailey, Eleanor G. Massey, Sylvia G. Fowler (Don), Mary Jane Roach (Billy), Minor Galloway, and Tommie Galloway; and sisters-in-law, Dorothy Galloway and Linda Galloway; and numerous nieces and nephews who were all near and dear to her heart. Predeceased were four brothers and one sister, Harold Galloway, Carol Galloway, Hershel Galloway, Leonard Galloway, and Judy Galloway Hall.
Graduating from Berea High School 1958, Frances began employment at Stone Manufacturing in the Lingerie Department making slips. In 1966 she started employment at Fiber Industries in Greenville where she remained until the plant moved to Shelby, NC. Frances then went to Wanger Systems, a division of Albany International until her retirement. Never one to be still, loving people and helping others, Frances, after retirement, attended Greenville Tech learning the art of floral design, making excellent grades and helping her sister, Mildred, at a local florist. She then worked part time as a representative with several promotional companies in local supermarkets demonstrating products and new food items until her cancer diagnosis in 2011.
A true valiant fighter, with the help of Dr James Hunter, his staff, and many others including Amedisys Hospice, Frances courageously battled this ugly disease with grace, humility and a sense of adventure. She enjoyed camping with her son and his family at the mountains and the beach. In 2012 she travelled to England, Scotland and France to visit her granddaughter, Laura. In 2013 she returned to England with her grandson, Bryson, to visit her son and daughter-in-law who were temporarily living there. She delighted in seeing new things and learning about the history of all the places she visited, her favorite being the Notre Dome in Paris. Unfortunately, the progression of her illness cancelled a planned to visit her grandson, Nathan, and his family in Tacoma, WA at Christmas 2015.
Faithful in the Word, Frances' truest loves were her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, her husband, family, her yard and tending her lovely flowers. She continuously exemplified the noble qualities of the righteous woman in Proverbs 31 with her quiet, yet tireless service to her family and friends.
Frances' favorite scripture was demonstrated in her daily walk with the Lord: But now faith, hope, love, abide these three; but the greatest of these is love. I Cor 13:13 NASB.
