Frances K. Ivey, affectionately known as Fran, passed away peacefully on the last day of 2024, December 31st, at her home in Easley, SC. Born on July 31, 1946, in Summerville, SC, Fran's life was a tapestry of love, dedication, and service, woven with the threads of her passions and relationships.
Fran's journey began as the cherished daughter of the late Helen Hogan and Frank Kobylenski. Her formative years in Summerville were filled with the warmth of a close-knit family, a foundation that would shape her into the loving person she was. Fran's heart found its match in James Ivey Jr., with whom she built a life rich in love and shared purpose. Their union was blessed with two wonderful children, Allison and Jamie, who, along with their spouses Donnie and Heather, added depth and joy to Fran's world.
Fran's professional life was marked by her role as a Radiologic Technologist specializing in mammography, and she further extended her impact by stepping into the role of an educator within the same field. Her dedication to her work was paralleled only by her commitment to her family, which expanded to include her beloved granddaughters, Ella and Paislee Ivey, who were the apples of her eye. Though her heart ached with the loss of her granddaughter Kaelyn Ivey, Fran's love for her family never wavered, and she continued to be a source of strength and comfort to all who knew her.
Fran's life was also touched by the bonds of sisterhood and friendship. She is survived by her sister-in-law, Linda Gissell, and her nieces, Maggie Salvatierra, Jennifer Fahey, and Sara Beth Stello, who will miss her dearly. The absence of her late sister, Faith Scruggs, was a sorrow Fran carried with grace, honoring her memory through the love she poured into her family.
A woman of many interests, Fran's passions painted the everyday with beauty and care. Her love for gardening brought life and color to her surroundings, while her flair for interior designing created a warm and inviting home. Fran's hands were rarely still, as she found joy in crafting and her culinary skills were a testament to her love for cooking. Shopping was another pleasure, but nothing compared to the delight she found in spending time with her grandchildren and her cherished dobies, Greta and Tank.
Fran's legacy is one of love, thoughtfulness, and passion. She approached life with a loving heart, always considering the needs and happiness of others before her own. Her thoughtful gestures and kind words were a comfort to many, and her passionate nature was evident in everything she did, from her professional work to the meticulous care she put into her hobbies.
As we bid farewell to Frances K. Ivey, we celebrate a life lived with purpose and love. Her memory will continue to inspire and guide us, just as the gardens she tended will bloom year after year—a reminder of the beauty and resilience that defined her. Fran's spirit, a blend of strength and gentleness, will forever be cherished by those who were fortunate enough to know her. Though she has left this earthly realm, the impact of her love and the memories she created will remain with us always.
