Florence May Mitchell was born January 29, 1926 in Camden, NJ and resided in Collingswood, New Jersey for most of her life until she moved to Greenville, South Carolina in 2012. Florence came to rest Thursday, June 4, 2015 at National Health Care, Mauldin. SC and went peacefully to be with the Lord Jesus Christ into glory.
Florence was the daughter of the late Martin R. Bell and Florence May Delucas and stepfather Frank DeLucas. She was predeceased by her loving and caring husband, William Francis Mitchell, Sr., a former FBI Agent and private investigator. She is survived by her sister Loretta Bailey of Taylors, SC and her sons, Richard F. Mitchell of Philadelphia, PA, William F. Mitchell, and daughter-in-law Linda Mitchell of Greenville, SC, Francis J. Mitchell and daughter-in-law Linda Mitchell of Mullica Hill, NJ and daughter Louray Mitchell of West Chester, PA. She has many caring and loving nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and friends.
Florence was a graduate of Collingswood High School in New Jersey and Philadelphia’s Jefferson University Nursing Program. She was a majorette in HS and worked as a nurse after her training. During the war years Florence was a member of The Army Nurse Corps in World War II. For decades Florence worked in a family business that gained national attention as a leading investigative agency. She was very active in the “Old Grads Society” of Collingswood HS and former FBI Agents Society of the Philadelphia area.
A private memorial service will be held at Westville Funerals, 6010 White Horse Road, Greenville, SC on Saturday, June 20, 2015 at 4:00 p.m.
