Ethilene Phillips Smith Oliver
Kelly, as she was known by most, was born on Sept. 29th, 1939 in Long Creek, S.C.
The 3rd daughter from a family of 8 kids born to R.J., and Oda Phillips. Kelly was a tough lady with a strong mind and that helped her navigate life. She was always a hard worker that excelled in every job that she held.
After she retired, she enjoyed playing cards, traveling the globe, and socializing with friends. In 2006 she moved back to her roots in Newberry, S.C. to be close to her son and her family.
She is survived by her only Son Steve W. “Byrd” Smith, and his wife Susan, of Newberry S.C. Two Granddaughters Kayce Smith Rutledge(Ray), and Megan Smith Zepeda(Lou), as well as 6 Great Grandchildren, all of Travelers Rest, S.C. Sisters, Irene Williams of Marietta, Ga., and Gladys Moore of Anderson, S. C. as well as one brother, Raeford Philips of Laurens, S.C.
She is predeceased by a daughter Teresa Diane Smith, by sisters, Arita Browne, and Kathleen Phillips and brothers Crate Phillips, and James Phillips.
A private family memorial is being planned. Memorials may be sent to Lifebridge or First Baptist Church, both of Newberry, S.C.
