Piedmont, South Carolina - Ervin C. Blackwelder Jr., a beloved husband, father, brother, and a treasured member of the community, passed away on May 22, 2023, at the age of 81. Born on December 23, 1941, in Concord, North Carolina, Ervin's life was a tapestry of love, adventure, and unyielding happiness.
Ervin is survived by his daughter Holly Parker, his son Reginol Blackwelder, and his sister Patsy Brock (Nelson), all of whom held special places in his heart. However, the cornerstone of his life was his beautiful wife of 31 years, Joanne Koren. Together, Ervin and Joanne shared an extraordinary journey filled with boundless love and countless cherished memories. They nurtured their relationship by engaging in shared passions, such as playing golf and embarking on breathtaking trips to San Jose, California. Nature held an irresistible allure for them, and they spent 11 unforgettable years camping at Hartwell Lake. Additionally, they reveled in the vibrant ambiance and sun-kissed shores of Myrtle Beach. Their zest for life and thirst for adventure meant that they were seldom home, for they cherished the great outdoors and the exploration it offered.
Ervin dedicated his years to various professions, leaving an enduring impact on those he encountered. He and Joanne worked together for eight years as security guards at General Electric, where Ervin's watchful nature and friendly disposition endeared him to his colleagues. However, his true calling manifested during his 23-year tenure as a manager with Seven-Eleven stores. Ervin excelled in his role and took immense pride in his work, leaving an indelible mark on both the business and the lives of those he served.
A perpetually content soul, Ervin found delight in life's simple pleasures. He had a fondness for Whoppers from Burger King and savored the flavors of country ham. His infectious smile and lighthearted spirit could brighten even the darkest days. Among his cherished companions, his puppy Molly held a special place in his heart, providing unwavering companionship and love. In addition to the love he shared with his family, Ervin's generosity extended to his community. He made regular donations to the Shriners Children Hospital, showing his compassion and desire to make a positive difference. Ervin C.
