Ernest Joe Pruitt

April 11, 1949 — May 24, 2024

Easley

Ernest Joe Pruitt, known affectionately as Joe to his friends and family, passed away peacefully on May 24, 2024, at the age of 75, in Easley, South Carolina. Born on April 11, 1949, in Greenville, South Carolina, Joe was the cherished son of the late Hilliard Garrett and Dorothy Bagwell Pruitt.

Joe's life was marked by his enduring love for his family. He is survived by his beloved wife, Lou Ellen M. Pruitt, who was the cornerstone of his life. Together, they raised two sons, J. Garrett (Beth) and Brent C. (Alaina), who in turn blessed them with four grandchildren: Raygan, Breanna, Joey, and Myles Pruitt. Joe also leaves behind his sister, Joyce Holcombe (Bob), with whom he shared a lifetime of memories.

A pillar of the community, Joe was known for his entrepreneurial spirit and dedication to local organizations. As the co-owner of T&J Painting, he brightened the lives and homes of many. Joe's commitment to his community was further exemplified by his active involvement in the Greater Greenville Bowling Association, where he not only participated but also formed lasting friendships. His leadership skills shone through during his tenure as past president of both the Crosswell Youth Association and the Easley Athletic Booster Club.

Joe was a man of faith and fellowship, as evidenced by his membership at Rock Springs Baptist Church in Easley. His spiritual journey also included time spent as a member of Westwood Baptist Church in Easley. Joe's faith guided him throughout his life and provided strength and comfort to him and those around him.

An avid golfer, fisherman, and bowler, Joe found joy and relaxation in these pastimes. His competitive spirit was often on display, whether he was on the links, by the lake, or at the bowling alley. Friends and family would sometimes describe Joe as "sometimes aggravating," a testament to his playful nature and sense of humor that could turn any frown upside down.

Joe will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. His generous spirit touched the lives of everyone he met. He had a knack for making people laugh and was always ready with a joke or a funny story. His presence in a room was a source of joy, and his laughter was infectious.

As we bid farewell to Ernest Joe Pruitt, we celebrate a life lived with love, laughter, and generosity. He has left an indelible mark on the hearts of those who knew him, and his legacy will continue to inspire us. Joe's memory will be cherished and kept alive through the stories shared by those who loved him.

The Pruitt family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to the community for their support during this time. Joe's life was a beautiful tapestry of family, faith, friendship, and service, and it is with both sadness and gratitude that we honor his memory.

A life so beautifully lived deserves to be beautifully remembered. Joe's family and friends will gather to celebrate his life and the happiness he brought to so many.
