Ellis Howard Davis Jr.

August 21, 1948 — July 19, 2023

Ellis Howard Davis "Jr.", a beloved father, grandfather, brother, and friend, has completed his earthly journey on July 19, 2023. Born on August 21, 1948, to the late Ellis Howard Davis Sr. and Dorothy Marie "McCain" Davis, Jr. was a man whose life was characterized by love, laughter, and an unwavering dedication to his family and work.
Jr. was a man of many talents and interests, but it was his work as a millwright and welder that truly defined him. From the tender age of 16, he began his journey in the world of work, demonstrating an unparalleled commitment to his craft. His hands, strong and steady, shaped the world around him, leaving a legacy of hard work and dedication that will continue to inspire those who knew him.
His life was not all work, though. Jr. was a man who knew how to enjoy life to the fullest. His interests were as varied as they were numerous. He loved the thrill of the hunt, the tranquility of fishing, and the camaraderie of playing cards. He was a regular at Cotton Eye Joe's on Friday nights, where he was known for his infectious laughter and dance moves. Jr. was also a master gardener who took great pride in his produce, and a culinary enthusiast who loved cooking seafood for his loved ones.
Jr. had a special place in his heart for his grandkids, whom he loved watching play sports. He was the kind of grandfather who would go out of his way to aggravate the young "kid-o's," always with a twinkle in his eye and a laugh on his lips. His love for his family extended beyond his immediate circle. He was a regular at the McCain reunions every August, where he would regale everyone with his stories and jokes.
Jr. was a man who loved life and lived it on his own terms. He was funny, always ready with a joke or a humorous anecdote. He was handy, able to fix anything that needed fixing. But above all, he was loving. His love for his family was his guiding light, his true north. He leaves behind a legacy of love and laughter that will continue to inspire and comfort his family and friends.
Jr. is survived by his daughters, Remona Roper and Heather Lee and her husband Dusty; his grandkids, Master Sergeant Toby Roper and his wife Billie, Cameron Cook, Dylan Cook, Cassidy Lee; his siblings and their spouses, Harvey Morgan and his wife Sandra, Joe Davis, Charles Davis, Judy Finley and her Husband Greg, Michael Davis and his wife Rita, Bruce Davis, Jeanne Thomas and her husband Kelly, Richard Davis; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Ellis Howard Davis Sr., and Dorothy Marie "McCain" Davis; his beloved wife of 38 years, Evelyn Montez Davis; and his sister-in-law, Liz Davis. He was predeceased by his siblings Marcelle Davis Curry, Elmer Davis, John and his wife Christa Morgan
Ellis Howard Davis "Jr." was a man who lived life to the fullest, loved deeply, and laughed heartily. His life was a testament to the power of love, the joy of laughter, and the value of hard work. His memory will continue to inspire and motivate all those who were fortunate enough to know him. He will be dearly missed, but his spirit will live on in the hearts of all those he touched.
