Elizabeth F. Hambright, affectionately known as Amye, passed away peacefully on October 13, 2024, in Greenville, SC, at the age of 63. Born on September 4, 1961, in Charlotte, NC, she was a beacon of love and intelligence, known for her gentle spirit and her nurturing heart.
Amye was the cherished daughter of the late Albert Horace Hendley and Elizabeth Farrior Ashcraft. She grew up in a loving family and carried that warmth into all her relationships. Her life was a testament to the love she had for her family, including her devoted daughter, Alexsis N. Ferguson, her caring son, Hunter K. Hambright, and her beloved son-in-law, Shane C. Ekstrom. She was a proud and doting grandmother to Colton J. Ekstrom, affectionately known as Colt, who brought immense joy to her life.
Amye was a sister and friend, leaving behind her brother, Albert H. Hendley III, her sister-in-law, Candace M. Hendley, and her adored nephews, Evan A. Hendley and Joshua M. Hendley, as well as her niece, Rebecca H. Hendley. She was preceded in death by her brother, Drew A. Hendley, whose memory she held close to her heart.
A lifelong learner and a professional, Amye earned her Associate of Science in Radiologic Technology and dedicated many years to her career as a Radiological Tech. Her commitment to her profession was matched only by her passion for her hobbies. Amye was a certified Master Gardener, a testament to her love for nurturing life in all its forms.
Amye's interests were as varied as they were rich. She found joy in cooking, creating culinary delights that brought her family and friends together. Rock n Roll was a constant companion in her life, providing a soundtrack to her cherished moments at Record Bar where she fondly worked. Her hands were rarely still, as she was often found immersed in her cross-stitch projects, each stitch a testament to her patience and attention to detail.
Above all, Amye's greatest pleasure was spending time with her family. Whether it was sharing a meal, laughing over memories, or simply being in each other's company, these moments were the ones she treasured most. Her grandson Colt was the light of her life, and their special bond was evident to all who knew them.
Amye will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. Her intelligence and gentle nature were the cornerstones of her being, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing her. Her legacy will live on in the beauty of her daughter's garden, the warmth of her kitchen, and the love that she so freely gave.
As we bid farewell to Amye, we celebrate a life beautifully lived and a soul that touched so many. Her memory will continue to inspire us to live with kindness, to nurture with love, and to cherish every moment with those we hold dear. Elizabeth F. Hambright will be deeply missed, but her spirit will forever remain a guiding light in the lives of her family and friends.
