Eley Benjamin Vann “Ben”
Ben passed away on September 9, 2022 at 32 years old in Atlanta, Georgia. He was our precious son, brother, grandson, nephew, cousin and friend. We loved him so much and always will love him forever.
Ben was born on October 20, 1989 on a beautiful fall day in Greenville, South Carolina. He is survived by his parents, Eley Biittner Vann and Lisa Jo (Mogensen) Vann, his wonderful sisters and brother-in-law, Daniel and Emily Vann McCarter, and Sarah Augusta Vann. He is also survived by his maternal grandmother, Beverly Joanne (Paulson) Mogensen who he dearly loved, his Aunt Kirsten {Mogensen) Lara LaVoie and Uncle Larry Lavoie, Aunt Leslie (Mogensen) Sorenson, cousins Nathanial Lara, Sydney Lara, and Lindsay Carson. Also his Aunt Elaine Vann Jones, and cousins Stephen Jones and Stephanie Jones Tunnell. He was pre-deceased by grand-parents, Einer Jens Mogensen, Eley B. Vann and Ivy Biittner Vann Hollowell.
Ben was a diesel mechanic by trade working on 18 wheel semi trucks and eventually building tractors for Kubota in Atlanta, Georgia. He was a very hard worker and entrepreneurial from a young age starting his own lawn business at age 14. He loved trains, engines and anything that “goes”. He repaired many go-carts, mowers, cars and trucks. He also loved the outdoors, building forts with his friends and summer Christian camp with all his heart while young. He was funny, kind, outgoing, talented and generous to a fault and easily made friends with others. In high school, he made a t-shirt “HI, MY NAME IS BEN” so he could meet people more quickly at a ball game.
Ben professed salvation through Jesus Christ in his twenties and was vocal about his salvation to anyone who would hear. He had many difficult and severe challenges in his life and through his many struggles and hurts, God decided to finally take him home with Him where he will truly be in the ultimate peace that passes understanding through freedom in Jesus Christ Our Lord.
We surely miss Ben tremendously and always will. We will always be thankful for each day of life God gave to you and blessed us with. I will see you in the morning on heaven’s bright shores where there is no pain, or suffering. Ben, our son and brother, you are dearly loved forever and always.
His funeral is 2:00 PM, Monday September 26th at Ramsey Creek Preserves, Westminster, SC.
