Eleanor Kay Trammell Moore, lovingly known as "Kay" was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away on September 19, 2023, in Greenville, South Carolina. She was born on January 28, 1944, in Greenville. Kay leaves behind a legacy of love and kindness that touched the lives of all who knew her.
Kay journey began in the close-knit community of the American Spinning Mill. She grew up surrounded by hardworking individuals and developed a strong work ethic from an early age. After completing her education at Parker High School in the Class of 1962, Kay embarked on a fulfilling career in the textile industry. She worked for American Spinning before moving on to contribute her talents at Kash & Karry and Walmart. Her dedication to her work was commendable, and she eventually retired from Olan Mills.
Outside of her professional life, Kayr had a passion for reading. She found solace and joy in books, often immersing herself in various genres and expanding her knowledge through literature. Reading became an integral part of who she was.
Kay was an active member of her church throughout her life. She found great fulfillment in singing with several ensembles as part of the church choir. Her beautiful voice resonated with deep emotion and brought comfort and inspiration to those listening.
In addition to her professional accomplishments and personal hobbies, Kay held her family close to her heart. She shared a loving marriage with Gabriel Michael Moore until his passing. Together they raised two daughters: Kim Moore and Tammy Horne. Eleanor's brother Joseph "Joe" Trammell was also an important presence in her life.
Kay adored being a grandmother and embraced this role with unwavering love. Her three grandchildren - Michael Horne and his wife Christine Horne, Matthew Horne and his wife Nikki Horne, and Stephanie Cabral - were the apples of her eye. Furthermore, she had the joy of watching her family grow with the addition of eight great-grandchildren: Nathaniel, Carson, Aurora, Winter, Lucy, Rayne, Sadie, and Melody.
The last several years of her life, despite the news that due to health-related issues that she needed Dialysis and may not survive despite all odds she lived for 6 years. The family would like to thank everyone at the Dialysis Clinics for their love and support of Eleanor for the many years, it made a difference!
Services to honor and celebrate Kay's life will be held at the Cremation Society of SC-Westville Funerals located at 6010 White Horse Road in Greenville. The viewing will take place on September 26, 2023, from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm. Following the viewing, a funeral service will begin at 1:00 pm. The interment will be held at Woodlawn Memorial Park on Wade Hampton Blvd in Greenville at 2:00 pm.
Eleanor Kay Moore touched the lives of countless individuals with her warm heart and gentle spirit and love for her family. We bid farewell to Kay with heavy hearts but take solace in knowing that her memory will live on through all those whose lives she impacted. May she rest in eternal peace.
