Eleanor Louisa Peel

Eleanor “ Lee “ Peel, 84, of Greer, passed away Sunday, December 31, 2017 in Greer, South Carolina. Born on May 16, 1933 in Coatesville, Pennsylvania to her parents, Leon H. Kerns and Louisa (Bonner) Kerns, she resided in the upstate since 1991 and she worked as a Secretary and an Apartment Manager prior to moving to South Carolina with her husband. She enjoyed camping, quilting and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her family will most fondly remember her apple pies and her love of baking during holidays and that she always most enjoyed eating her food fresh and hot.

Lee is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Harry Peel, Jr.; her sister, Alice and her brother, Harold Kerns. Those who will most cherish her memory are her daughters, Debra Bailey (Woody) of Center Point, Alabama, Brenda Blackburn (Bob) of Sussex, New Jersey and Valerie McSwain (Trent) of Statesville, North Carolina; her brother, George Kerns of Coatesville, Pennsylvania; her grandchildren, Curtis Bailey, Jason Bailey, Joshua Bailey, Robert Blackburn, III, Christine Blackburn, Shannon Mirabile, Stephen Blackburn, Wesley McSwain and Taylor McSwain; her great grandchildren, Shea, Grace, Addison, Matthew, Ryan, Abigail, Avery, Tristan, Madelyn and Anthony. Lee is also survived by nieces, nephews and members of her extended family and friends.

A gathering for family and friends to remember and honor Lee’s life will be at 2:00 P.M. Friday, January 5, 2017 in the Parlour of the Cremation Society of South Carolina - Westville Funerals, 6010 White Horse Road in Greenville.
