Elaine Steele Martin, 85 of Anderson, SC and formerly of Hamden, CT. passed from life on August 23, 2022. Loving wife of Jimmy Martin for 65 years. Elaine was born in Manchester, CT. daughter of the late Ernest Benedetti and Luanna Mae (Steele) Benedetti. She cherished her early years in Stafford Springs with her grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins. Elaine graduated Hamden High School, CT. and attended Mount Ida College, Mass. She met the love of her life Jimmy Martin in Lexington, Mass. While he was stationed in the Air Force. They married at Hamden Plains Methodist Church on November 2, 1957. Elaine graduated Paire Art School of Hamden, Conn. She enjoyed her arts, painting, sewing clothing for her children and winning many ribbons, creating beautiful flower gardens, loved fashion, jewelry and design. Elaine was a kind, warm hearted and selfless person. She thought nothing of having long conversations and gave the best advice. Her smile and laughter will be dearly missed. Elaine is survived by her husband, Jimmy Martin, of Anderson, SC, five children and spouses, grandchildren, Darlene Bavaro (Brian); grandson, Brenton and granddaughter, Brianna of Cheshire, CT. Melody Martin, of Greenville, SC, Lisa DeLizio (John) grandsons Matthew and sadly he was predeceased by Jonathan Martin Delizio of Woodbridge, CT. Alane Fauliso, of Milford CT. James Martin (Wanda), granddaughter, Amber and grandson, Jonathan of Grey Court, SC. She was predeceased by Jonathan Martin DeLizio.
