On Christmas Eve, 2020, Edward J. Quigley Jr., loving husband, father, and grandfather, passed away at the age of 70.
Ed was born on January 26, 1950, in Philadelphia, PA, to Ethel and Edward Quigley. He graduated from Clayton H.S. and received his BA from Glassboro State College (Rowan University). He worked for the DuPont Company in South Jersey, retiring after 35 years.
The U.S. Army called Ed to serve in 1970, during the Vietnam era. He proudly served as a medic for two years. Ed also served in the U.S. Coast Guard in Cape May, NJ from 1988-1991.
Ed was predeceased by his parents and sister, Barbara. He is survived by a sister, Loretta Crowley (Terry), and his loving wife of twenty-nine years, Mary. He leaves behind his children, Edward III (Suzanne), Patrick (April), Kim Miedzius (Chris), Suzanne (Edward), as well as many nieces and nephews. The joy of his life were his grandchildren, Ava, Liam, Brady, Riley, Caroline, and Emma. Let’s not leave out his sweet dog, Nikko.
Ed’s lifelong passion was running. He acquired many awards and completed his goal of running the Philadelphia Marathon. Ed was a true caretaker and a good friend to many. He was a member of St. Mary Magdalene Church. He was an integral part of Mauldin Miracle League, a baseball organization for special needs children in the Upstate.
A Funeral Mass will be held on January 21st, 2021 at St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church in Simpsonville, SC at 10am. A Military Comital Service will take place at M. J. “Dolly” Cooper Veterans Cemetery in Anderson, SC at 10am January 22nd, 2021. Masks are required at all events.
