Eddie passed away at home 1 December 2023 after a two month battle with Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma.
He was born in Marshalltown, Iowa 1 July 1945, and traveled far during his lifetime.
Survived by his devoted wife, Dagmar, MSgt, retired USAF, of 46 adventurous years. Brother, Dennis Mathes (Jill) of Knoxville, TN. Step-son Eric Foutch (Jennifer) and four grandchildren of McLoud, Oklahoma. Not awaiting the draft, he joined the United States Air Force (USAF) in 1963 until 1967, serving in Germany and France. Then while attending Spartan School of Aeronautics, he joined the Oklahoma Air National Guard and retired as a Chief Master Sergeant in 1993. He loved military aircraft, especially the
C-124, F-100, and A-7’s that he crewed. Along with his military career he was a Federal Civil Servant with the Department of Defense retired as GS-13 on 1 July 2002 with 39 years having additional overseas assignments in Saudi Arabia and England.
He was not all about work and discovered golf in 1998, loving each round, and working part-time at Verde Green for 20 years. When not golfing he enjoyed pampering his yard and traveling the world-especially Germany. In place of a service, Eddie asked to be remembered by raising a glass to 2024 and to honor all veterans.
