Edward (Ed) L. Corkwell died peacefully at home on Saturday, June 23 at the age of 90.
Ed is survived by his beloved wife of 50 years, Carol, and his 4 children: daughter Roslyn Martin of Seminole, FL; sons Bradley (Helen) Corkwell of San Antonio, TX, Shane (Lisa) Fitzgerald of Naperville, IL, and Larry Corkwell of Philadelphia, MS. He is also survived by 7 grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Kristal McCann.
Ed was born on May 14, 1928 in Columbus, Ohio to Clarence and Lyndall (Lawrence) Corkwell. Ed went to college at the University of Oregon, before graduating with a Pharmacy degree from Oregon State University. While not boating and slaying walleye on Lake Erie, raising honey bees, or building interesting Heathkit electrical items, Ed owned and operated 4 pharmacies in Columbus, Ohio. Ed “retired” after selling Terrace Pharmacy, his last store in 1980. In 1981, Ed and Carol moved south to Florida, living in Treasure Island, where Ed ran a charter fishing boat, then moved further south to Osprey, before finding their “home” in Seneca, South Carolina.
A private memorial service and reception is scheduled for Thursday, July 5 in Seneca.
