Doris Louise Wood

Doris Louise Wood, 77, of Easley, passed from this life on Saturday, May 6, 2017 at her residence. Born on May 30, 1939 in Greenville, South Carolina to her parents, Fred Adam Lanning and Bertha ( Bailey ) Lanning, she was a lifelong resident of the Upstate and she worked as a Weaving Technician in the Textile Industry. She was very devoted to her family, she enjoyed fishing and shopping and she was a hard worker. Doris will be remembered by her family as a loving, wife, sister, mother and grandmother.

Doris is preceded in death by her father, Fred Adam Lanning; her mother, Bertha ( Bailey ) Lanning Finley; her brother, Wes Lanning; her sisters, Ann West, Norma Jean McCall, Linda Long and Jessie Wood. Those who will most treasure her memory are her husband, Calvin Wood of Easley; her daughters, Rhonda Wood (Tony) and Donna Bolding (Mark) both of Greenville; her sons, Steve Garrett (Tammy), Ronald Garrett and Joey Garrett all of Greenville; her sisters, Nancy Donaldson of California and Janice Payne ( Donnie ) of Atlanta, Georgia; her brother, Fred " Ronnie " Lanning ( Sharon ) of Greenville; seven grandchildren; twenty-one great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.

Services to remember and honor Doris's life will be at 3:00 P.M. Tuesday, May 9, 2017 at the New Life Baptist Church, 2690 West Blue Ridge Drive in Greenville. Officiating will be Reverend Ronnie Powell, pastor of the church. The family will receive friends from 1:30 P.M. Until 3:00 P.M. Tuesday at the church. Rite of Committal and Interment will follow services where she will be laid to rest at Graceland Cemetery West on White Horse Road in Greenville. Memorial donations in memory of Doris should be made to New Life Baptist Church in Greenville. Services are under the direction of the Cremation Society of South Carolina - Westville Funerals in Greenville.
