TAYLORS, SC – Donna Lee Tapp Jones, 81, died at home on June 22 (2021) and is at peace after a bout of lung cancer. She was born in Greer, SC, as the daughter of Hulon Moses and Virginia Maxine (Lee) Tapp.
Donna was a graduate of Greer High School, class of 1957. Before retirement, she was the former office manager for NUTEX, Inc., a specialty textile chemical manufacturing company in Greenville, SC. She was very happily married 48 years to Michael Jones of Spartanburg, SC.
Donna was a highly active member of St. Peter’s Episcopal Church and was known for her warmth and hospitality as the chairperson for the monthly Newcomers Wine and Cheese Reception. She loved welcoming all new members into the St. Peters’ church family. She was a proficient, lifelong seamstress who gladly shared her gifts by sewing worship streamers for celebration services, and by sewing processional baptismal banners for the families of baptism candidates (with the help of friend and church member Karen Faulkner).
Donna was an avid, enthusiastic reader who also enjoyed working daily crossword puzzles and playing solitaire on the computer. She loved spending time at the beach, and she loved spending time with her family, friends, and puppies.
She was predeceased by her parents. Surviving are her husband, Michael; her sister Peggy Jo Turman (Jay) of Nashville, TN; daughter Cynthia Jones Foster (Chase) of Fort Mill, SC; sons David Michael Jones (Kelly) of St. Mary’s, GA; Jeffrey Jay Jones of Greenville, SC; stepson Shannon Cothran (Roxanne) of Pauline, SC; niece Kimberly Turman (Bob) of Nashville, TN; and nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Services will be held at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, Greenville, SC, later this summer.
