Donna Jean Allen

Donna Jean Allen retired from the Greenville Police Department
Communications Bureau in 2012. Donna worked there for 28 years beginning
as a Call Taker, then a Dispatcher, and was promoted to the Training
Coordinator position and was the Assistant TAC for the Police
Department. In 2000 Donna was promoted to the Communications
Administrator position and was in charge of all operations until
2012. Donna Allen was responsible for overseeing the Communications
Bureau adopting and complying with standards set by the Commission on
Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA), which they
successfully accomplished, being the first Communications operation in
South Carolina to do so. Later Donna Allen oversaw the Fire and Police
Communications Consolidation successfully, which was a first for
Greenville SC. In 1999, while acting as the Training Coordinator, Donna
was awarded the statewide Training Coordinator of the Year Award by the
S.C. Association of Public Communication Officers.
Donna is survived by her husband, Robert Bruce Allen, four children -
Lawrence B. Cadden III, Lesley Carol Cadden, Robert B. Allen Jr., Steven
Eric Allen, and four grandchildren.
A memorial gathering will be held Saturday, March 20, 2021, in the Chapel of Cremation Society of SC - Westville Funerals.
