Donald Ross Wilson, age 79, of Greenville, SC, went home to be with his Lord on Saturday,
May 14, 2016, of Alzheimer’s.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 21, at 2:00 PM at Mount Calvary Baptist Church, Greenville SC. Pastor Mark Minnick of Mount Calvary Baptist Church will be officiating. Visitation will be held on Saturday, May 21, at 1:00 PM at Mount Calvary Baptist Church. Interment will be Friday, May 27, 2016 at 3:00 PM at South Cemetery, Lunenburg, MA.
Donald was born in Fitchburg, MA on May 27, 1936. He graduated from Acton High School and continued on to receive an Associate Degree from University of Massachusetts Amherst School
of Agriculture.
He proudly served in the U.S. Army Special Forces, First Sergeant Green Beret and received a commendation in November, 1960.
Donald married Cynthia Stockwell of Leominster, MA on September 18, 1960, they were happily married for 55 years.
Donald worked as an arborist, golf course superintendant and most enjoyed his last occupation as a school bus driver for the Lunenburg Public School District. He enjoyed woodworking, reading history, and was actively involved in church life.
Donald is survived by his wife Cynthia (Stockwell) Wilson, brother David Wilson of Littleton, MA, sister Harriet Stewart of Westfield, MA, Jeanne Stewart of Hinsdale, NH, children Pamela Reekie of Greenville, SC, Stephen Wilson of Chesterfield, VA, Donna Peace of San Jose, CA, and Daniel Wilson of Sebring, FL. He is also survived by nine grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Donald is preceded in death by his parents James and Eleanor (Hall) Wilson of Littleton, MA, brother James Wilson of Littleton, MA, and Janet Zacame of Bolton, MA.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be given to The Gideons or The Alzheimer’s Association.
