Donald Rex “ Don “ Sifford, age 73, of Liberty, South Carolina, took his wings and soared away on Monday, July 30, 2018, at Greenville Memorial Hospital in Greenville, South Carolina. Born in Russell County. Virginia., he was the son of the late Clark and Pauline Keith Sifford of St. Paul, Virginia. He spent his young life in Wise County, Virginia and attended St. Paul High School. In the early sixties, Donald moved to Aurora, Illinois. He found work and married the mother of his children, the late Dolores Vilmin. After many years of working in Aurora and becoming disabled, Donald returned to his roots in Virginia. In the early nineteen nineties, Donald married Darlene Woods, moved to Liberty, South Carolina and made their home. Don loved all his family deeply as a husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and cousin. He was loved by many and had lots of friends and will be greatly missed. Preceding him in death along with his parents, are brothers, Edward, Curley, and Wilburn Sifford; his grandparents, McCall and Ruby Salyers Keith and George and Ida Belle Clark Sifford, along with a brother-in-law, nephew, niece, and several uncles, aunts, cousins, and friends. He is survived by his loving wife, Darlene Sifford of Liberty, South Carolina.; his children, Tammy Booher of Sandy Hook, Kentucky., Bonnie Gerike of Castlewood, Virginia., Paula (Buddy) Herron of Norton, Virginia., Melissa Silcox of Rogersville, Tennessee., Jennifer (Frankie) Barlow of Coeburn, Virginia., Donald (Heather) Sifford of London Kentucky., Jason (Tracy) Woods of Liberty, South Carolina., Lisa Phillips of Pendleton, South Carolina, and Angie (Michael) Lewis of Central, South Carolina., 23 grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brothers and sisters, Gary Sifford and Jeff (Tina) Sifford, both of St. Paul, Virginia., Shirley (David) Cress of Castalia, Ohio, Linda (Doug) Altizer of Birmingham, Alabama., Dorothy Burke of St Paul, Virginia., Gerri (Steve) Greenwall of Newark, Illinois., Joyce (John) Burnett of Wise, Virginia., and Betty (Roger) Swindle of Easley, South Carolina, and a host of uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff at Greenville Memorial Hospital, Baptist Hospital and Manna Rehab Center for their care and kindness during Don's time of illness and all family and friends for their prayers, love and support. Per Don's request, his body will be cremated. His final destination and a celebration of life service will be held at the Keith Family Cemetery in Castlewood, Virginia at a later date.
